Cordyline Fire in charcoal & color pencil

Next drawing, long time coming.  Charcoal with colored pencil for the red variegation.  Skeleton is built, now for the filling in.  Already started on the glorious fiery silky reds.  Watch the progress as each leaf unfolds.

Here comes the red!

Can you tell it's a leaf now?  If not, you suck... give it time

Another leaf done

Focal point cordyline leaf done, with dew drop details.  Sexy, no?

More than half way done.  Need more hours in the day to sneak in drawing time...  Itching to see it done.

2/8/18

The last of the mostly colored leaves for the cordyline (in colored pencil) almost done.
This one is the very foreground & has lots of detail to capture both in charcoal and color pencil.

Old ink drawing renewed- "Were I Free"

Found an old drawing in ink I always liked but needed some fixes.  Fresh & renewed, ready for a frame.

"Were I Free"
seems to capture a strong desire for something just beyond reach

Originally done in 2006.
Funny how long things will sit tucked away but still treasured.

Halloween Wreath- au'naturale

Collected cones & such around the area here in the Pacific Northwest, where the leaves do such great things for fall.  The branch to the right is a chunk of invasive Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) I pulled off my prairie work site & painted.  Die broom, DIE!  And vuala- spooky wreath for Halloween.  A fitting natural wreath for our lovely area.
